The Return of the Wanderer

The return drive from the show in Saratoga California seemed longer that the drive down. I lost Monday to the drive from Redding up the Portland in the driving rain. The unpacking and restarting in the studio is a challenge in shifting gears. The walls look empty with all the paintings packed in their travel boxes. Is it time for new directions or more digging into the themes that I worked with this winter, probably some of each.
I saw a lot of art this week. Tuesday was Hillsboro's openings at the art center and galleries, on Wednesday I went to Jane Aukshunas opening in Forest Grove at the newly remodeled Valley Arts Center, and Thursday after work I went to Portland's first Thursday art openings to see George Hamilton's new work at the Attic Gallery.

Dee Frank talking to George at the opening.
Dee and I visit many local art galleries together, to support our artist friends and see the local trends.

By Friday I was caught up with the daily chores and ready to get back to doing some painting. It was a slow start; I only reworked the painting shown in the last post for what I hope is the last time. I modified the light values and the dark values and altered the edges of some shapes.

Thanks for reading and feel free to let me know what you are thinking.
